Bertha M. Clark Hadley,
age 93, of Clarksville, Ohio, went to be with the Lord at the Courtyard of Wheelersburg Assisted Living Facility Tuesday morning, February 18, 2025.
She was born June 19, 1931 in Blanchester, Ohio, daughter of the late Ishmael & Rosa (Mattingly) Clark. She was preceded in death by husband- Joseph Wilbur Hadley, whom she married April 10, 1954. Also preceding her in death was her daughter- Susan Hadley Guenther, her brothers- Thomas Clark, Harold Clark and Layman Clark and an infant sister- Wilma Jane Clark.
She is survived by her daughter- Virginia Hadley White, of Wheelersburg, OH; grandchildren- Joseph (Denise) White, Chillicothe, OH, Joshua (Paityn Breech) White, Wheelersburg, OH Alyssa (Rob) Guenther Powell, Holly Springs, NC & Justin Guenther, Cincinnati, OH; great-grandchildren- Elijah Joseph Powell, Hannah Powell, Orion Bullard, & Tristan White; son-in-law- Carl (Deb) Guenther, Wilmington; 3 brothers- Virgil (Kathy) Clark, Herman (Gail) Clark, & Jeff Clark; 6 sisters- Mary Ellen (Jean-Deceased) Woods, Phyllis (Chuck-Deceased) Rosenberger, Genevieve (David) Cornett, Ula (Mike) Strelecky, & Alicia (Paul) Rosenberger; and several nieces & nephews.
A charter member of the Wilmington Church of Christ (Christian), she retired from Wilmington City Schools as a 4th & 5th grade teacher. After retirement, she enjoyed being a volunteer at Clinton Memorial Hospital. Bertha & Joe also were very active in the Relay for Life that raised money for the American Cancer Society. She moved to Wheelersburg, Ohio with her daughter after having CoVid in 2020. In 2022, she moved into the Courtyard of Wheelersburg. The Family would like to thank the administration and staff at Courtyard of Wheelersburg for their superior care and compassion.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, February 22, 2025 at Fisher-Edgington Funeral Home, 97 West Locust Street at North Mulberry Street, Wilmington, with Pastor Stephen Wetterhan officiating. Interment will follow in the Clarksville Cemetery, Clarksville, Ohio.
Friends will be received from 12 Noon until the time of services on Saturday.
