Alberta Rosella Campbell,
Age 94 , of Dayton, Ohio, died June 9, 2012 at Mercy Siena Woods in Dayton.
Alberta was born June 24, 1917 in New Albany, Indiana, the youngest daughter of Joseph Fredrick & Gertrude Maria (Schmidt) Graf. She was married to Robert Justin Campbell, WHIO-TV (Dayton, Ohio) personality and teacher, on June 1, 1943 at the St, Mary of Annunciation Church, New Albany, IN. Robert died October 8, 1984 in St. Petersburg, Florida and is interred in the Gulf of Mexico. She had a daughter- Mary Louise, born and died in 1945 and a son-The Reverend Paul Douglas (Darlene) Campbell, of Wilmington, OH, born 1947, who survives.
Other surviving family members are her 2 grandchildren-Matthew Campbell of Sidney, Ohio and Heather (Brian) Martin of Dayton, as well as a great-grandson- Simon Martin. In addition, she will be missed by 10 nieces, nephews and families, with some still living in Southern Indiana.
Mrs. Campbell was a 1931 graduate of St. Mary of the Annunciation School and a 1935 graduate of the New Albany High School. She was a full time homemaker and variously worked in retail sales, as a food service hostess and in direct mail advertising. After marrying, she lived in Dayton, Ohio, New York, NY, Elizabethtown, KY and Lebanon, Ashtubula, Kirtland, and Cleveland, OH and St Petersburg, FL. Alberta was a member of Our Lady of Mercy Roman Catholic Church, Dayton.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held 1:00 P.M., Monday, June 25, 2012 at St. Mary of the Annunciation Catholic Church, New Albany, Indiana, with Fr. Harry Tulley celebrant and Monica Graf, Niece, Homilist. The Family will receive visitors beginning at 12:30.
